| In 1972, three men decided to take a chance. They decided to start a company that evolved into the finest organization supplying rolls to the web converting industry today. In what was a large cornfield, the Webex had its first facility. It was relatively small, and it didn't take long to out grow it.
As demands grew, the members of the Webex team grew to meet the needs. Additional engineering talent was hired, product lines expanded to include the development of Webex's proprietary ThermEx heat transfer rolls and Webex's own line of specialized vacuum rolls. Nip rolls, coating rolls, and other precision rolls were developed for some of the most sophisticated and demanding applications in the paper and film industries.
In 1979, Webex built a new plant. The facility was equipped with all the necessary tools to build rolls: 48,000 square feet of capacity, inside dock area, 10 ton overhead crane capacity, and highly skilled machinists to meet customer needs. Profit sharing was instituted to reward employees for their efforts. New machine tools were added, a couple of new grinders, CNC lathes, a boring bar. Another 12,000 square foot addition. Larger lathes and grinders.
Along with the expanded product, new customer services were added. In 1988, Webex pioneered the WebExpress order, which guarantees your idler roll order will ship in 48 hours or it will be free. Webex provided the Total Satisfaction Guarantee for your rolls, to assure customers that their requirements are met. And the Company became ISO 9001 certified in 1994, and has maintained its certification since to assure customers of consistent, reliable products.
